What Is Diamond Open Access?
Diamond Open Access is a publishing model in which readers access published articles at no cost, and authors pay nothing to publish. It is distinct from both traditional subscription publishing and standard "Gold" open access, which often requires authors to pay an article processing charge of USD 500 to USD 3,000 or more.
DMLJ is Diamond Open Access because it is fully funded by RSUD Wangaya, Denpasar, Bali. The institution bears the operational costs of the journal, ensuring that neither readers nor authors ever pay to access or publish research. This model is considered the most equitable form of open access by leading research funders and institutions worldwide.

How the Journal Is Funded
DMLJ is published and funded entirely by RSUD Wangaya (Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Wangaya), a regional public hospital in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia. RSUD Wangaya covers all editorial, production, and platform costs as part of its commitment to advancing medical law scholarship and health policy research in Indonesia and the region.
This institutional funding model allows the journal to operate as a true Diamond Open Access publication — financially sustainable without placing any cost burden on authors or readers. The journal does not receive commercial advertising revenue, and editorial decisions are made independently of the funding source.
